When I think of Mothering Spirit I think Kenosis! Just my ramblings as this space was empty...

Kenosis love is

a theological concept referring to self-emptying, sacrificial love, modeled by Jesus Christ, who voluntarily relinquished divine privilege to take the form of a servant. Derived from the Greek kenosis ("emptying"), it signifies a total letting go of self-interest, ego, and power to love God and others unconditionally. This feels like Mothering spirit to me!

• Self-Emptying (Philippians 2:5-8): It is based on the biblical passage where Christ “emptied himself” (kenōsen), interpreted as setting aside divine status rather than losing divine nature.

• Voluntary Sacrifice: It is a voluntary, intentional decision to prioritize the needs of others over one's own rights and passions.

• Cruciform (Cross-Shaped): It is considered "cruciform love"—the highest expression of love shown through humble service and sacrifice, exemplified by the Cross.

• Not Just Negation: Rather than a mere lessening of self, it is seen in Eastern Orthodoxy as emptying oneself of ego to be filled with divine grace, leading to union with God.

• Practical Application: It calls for humility, abandonment of pride, and a "letting go" of the need to control, allowing for a life of generous service. 

Kenosis love is not simply a passive emptiness, but an active, self-donating, and merciful love.
